Paces' Good Guide to the Gold Coast

20 May 2016 | 12:14 pm | Aiden Benavides

We wanted to know where PACES hangs out at home. Here's his Guide to Things on the Gold Coast that are not Surfers Paradise or Theme Parks

Gold coast native Mike Perry aka PACES has been making tropical flavored music for some time now, coming out with his debut album Vacation which features the likes of Guy Sebastian (seriously), Jess Kent and Rye Rye.

Paces has certainly been keeping busy, alongside his new LP, he's been announced on the massive Your Paradise lineup (see below for details). But before he jets off to Fiji, we wanted to know where ya boy Paces hangs out when he's not on tour. Therefore we introduce to you Paces' Guide to Things on the Gold Coast that are not Surfers Paradise or Theme Parks.

Dog Beaches

Ok this could've been 'beaches in general' because we have some absolute rippers here. But if you love dogs (and I do) there's some amazing dog-friendly spots.

"I don't drink coffee but if I did this would be my spot. My coffee-drinking friends tell me that it's the tits. I went here for a bro-date with my good friend Atticus Beats yesterday and the food was amazing. Plus they're dog-friendly (!)."

Camping on the beach

"Technically this is not on the Gold Coast, but within a short drive you can find multiple places to go camping on the beach if you have a 4wd. This is my absolute favorite way to unwind between tours. It works even better if you go somewhere without phone reception because you're forced not to check your emails."

"This is the best restaurant on the Coast, IMO. There's actually heaps of really nice restaurants and cafes here these days, particularly down the south end where I live, but this one is unbeatable. If you love Japanese food and/or whiskey, this place is a must."

Home

My place

"I really love where I live. There's a beautiful beach right across the road, I've got a studio in my unit and it's cheap to live here. There's not really much of a scene for my type of music, but I enjoy living in a quiet beach town near my family and the ocean."

You can catch Paces playing Friday 20 May at Howler, Melbourne Saturday 21 May at Oxford Arts Factory, Sydney and even later this year at Your Paradise December 10th to 16th. You can find the full lineup below and packages can be secured for $99. For more info on YP or to book, head to yourparadise.com
