Musica Copa say thanks and reflect on another stellar year

8 February 2016 | 4:51 pm | Staff Writer

We were lucky enough to work closely on yet another great MUSICA COPA this year, here's what went down.

We were lucky enough to work closely on yet another great MUSICA COPA this year, where on Friday 5th February, over 400 players and spectators rocked up to the KIKOFF Soccer Centre in Marrickville to participate in the music industry’s annual charity 5-a-side football tournament.

Getting straight into the business; In the most closely contested final ever, the projects* snatched victory from Lucky Ent. in a dramatic final 90 seconds, overturning a 1-2 score into a 3-2 championship winning grand final victory - whilst The Sweat It Out x Maker Agency team fell short in the knock-out rounds after setting out to win an unprecedented hat trick of tournament victories.

That all meant that a MASSIVE $7000 was presented to theprojects* and their nominated charity Project Future. Runner up Lucky Ent. walked away with a cheque for $5000 for their charity The Reach Foundation and MTV claimed 3rd Place for the second year in a row, beating an improved Audiopaxx team in the 3rd/4th play off and winning $2000 for Ted Noff’s Foundation. Thanks to team registrations, sponsorship and VIP door donations this year’s Musica Copa generated an unbelievable $16,500 for charity in 2016.

And just in case you were wondering who actually laced up this year, we saw Flight Facilities’ Hugo Gruzman, Just A Gent, Charles Murdoch, Montaigne, Olympic Ayres, World Champion, Motorik, Gordi and more all hit the courts this year! Alongside Musica Copa’s unofficial ambassadors The Meeting Tree of course.

Long-standing local community station and our great friends, FBi Click, was in charge of the sideline partying, with Ribongia, Adi Toohey, Luen, Kato, Sports, Andy Garvey and Sandro Switch keeping the punters sweating, whilst TV hunk Scott Tweedie returned as Musica Copa’s official MC.
