Melbourne duo, HOODLEM have returned and have just stopped in to drop off a new slick track.

Having lots of attention drawn to the Melbourne duo from the release of their first single, ‘Through’ there is much hype about Hoodlem’s homecoming.

Carefully naming the track ‘Kintsugi’, the duo’s idea of the name and the meaning behind the song comes from the Japanese art form, which entails repairing something that has been broken with golden dust. Smart and significant, considering the song is about a broken relationship and attempting to repair it with ‘gold dust’ so to speak.

‘Kinstugi’ oozes the vibe of an R&B slow jam. The track is filled with a decomposed beat and a slow heavy bass line. ‘Kinstugi’ also features some sick guitar lines and snappy clicks adding some serious funk to the track. The edgy vocals and lyrics are the cherry on top of the ice cream with a voice that is strong and in your face, making you want to give a fuck (pardon the pun to the song).

Hoodlem’s attitude and style is so different to any other Australian artists at the moment, they’re resurrecting funk within R&B, and that hasn’t been displayed in a long time.
