Live Review: GRRL PAL 'Caught By The Light'

13 December 2015 | 10:00 am | Emma Jones

Perth duo GRRL PAL show what they're made of with yet another impressive release titled 'Caught By The Light'. 2016 is looking pretty good for these two!

Perth duo GRRL PAL are wrapping up their biggest year yet in style, with the release of a brand new single just two weeks out from 2016. Titled 'Caught By The Light', it showcases a slight deviation in sound - not that that's a bad thing - as well as an even more refined approach, which doesn't come as a surprise given just how much they've achieved over the past 12 months.

We've had our eye on these two for a while now. Their "one track a month" project made the year go by just that little bit quicker, just because of how much we were looking forward to each release. Consistently pushing themselves and their sound with each and every single, GRRL PAL outdid themselves every single time, and now they've done it again.

Sugary sweet vocals mix with an electro-house beat, sounding like a more real PC Music with this track. Jay LeKat's voice floats soft over Danny K's thick production bed; shifting synths and plunging basslines, piercing handclaps and a groove you can't escape. The sing-songy lyrics give it a playful feel, even though the lyrics hold quite a bit of defiance and sass courtesy of LeKat.

It's once again an impressive release from this Perth pair. After wowing audiences at BIGSOUND this year, and showing no signs of slowing down, we can't help but get really excited when we think of what is still to come from them. 2016 is looking particularly bright for GRRL PAL!
