Live Review: City Calm Down 'Son' (Official Video)

Aside from announcing a national tour for next year, City Calm Down have somehow found the time to film a music video for their single 'Son'.

After having a chat to Jack from CITY CALM DOWN a little prior to their debut LP release In A Restless House, there's a real dose of perspective I've got of the album.

It's one that's almost confusing in its influence, but pristine and collected in its delivery, but simultaneously it's an album of sincere authenticity and one of extreme and utter craftsmanship. Basically speaking, the guys put a shit tonne of effort into this one and it shows.

Aside from announcing their In A Restless House tour for early-mid next year, the guys have somehow found the time in amongst all of the madness to film a music video for their single 'Son'.

The track itself feels like a heartfelt gospel. The synths are humbling, Jack's vocals remain that trademark baritone but with an almost desperate feel to them, and it's wrapped up in City Calm Down's

The video serves as almost a turning point for religious ambiguity. Giving a theme and representation to the song's religious allusions, 'Son' isn't your typical music video. If anything, the depth within this video gives it a sense of meaning that goes beyond the scope of the song and takes it further into a territory that the album itself explores quite in depth.

And if you're wondering what that is, it's the struggles of growing up in this transient, modern world where everything is replaceable and nothing is permanent.

City Calm Down are not only purveyors of sound, but they're innovators and thinkers. Ones who consider their sound to be more than music, and something of a more textual basis.
