Live Review: First Listen: Clubfeet 'We Are Affected'

CLUBFEET have refuelled our nostalgia and brought back something we so sorely missed in the Australian dance scene.

There's nothing better than realising an inactive group or artist have released new material. It's like opening up a present on Christmas, or getting that very last glass of OJ from the bottle in the morning.

CLUBFEET have refuelled our nostalgia and brought back something we so sorely missed in the Australian dance scene. A sound that's instrumental, funky and incredibly melody driven, and one that took them albums to construct.

They haven't released any material since 2013's Heirs & Graces LP, so we're stoked to hear that they're back. They've today announced an EP that you can expect out in 2016 called 'Deep Thoughts', and with that comes the very first taste of what to expect from this new work.

It feels more downtempo than their previous work, but there's an element of maturity to their sound that feels newfound and otherwise completely new to the group's work.

Called 'We Are Affected', as I said before, this one sees the guys turn the tempo right down and focus entirely on not only the way the track's constructed, but they've put huge emphasis on the vibe it gives off.

They've definitely perfected the balance in this one. The bass line is so prominent, yet not overpowering, and the instrumentals work so well together to eventuate into this huge anomaly of sound and invigorating dance-ability.

Clubfeet are no strangers to making innovative club music. And we're super stoked to hear that their new release is heading in a really cool direction.
