Pastel pleasures are aplenty in GL's stunning new video for their dancefloor anthem 'Number One'.

Pastel pleasures are aplenty in GL's stunning new video for their dancefloor anthem 'Number One'.

We knew from the get go that Plastic World's GL were onto something good. Daring vocals and a comfortability within the production that pairs surprisingly well together.

In their latest single 'Number One', there's a feisty kind of 80's pop revival here, but with an obvious modern twist. I think it's more so to do with the laser-like synth blaring glittery chords every now and then. Or it could be the techno drum kit that plays rolls throughout the chorus. Or how about the video-game esque bass line that plucks its way through the verses and sings its way into the chorus.

Featuring some eccentric characters, the video for this number is not all that it seems. What begins a clean, organised space becomes one of chaos, frustration and fun.

Aside from the pancakes, chickens and peaches, it's the cinematography and colour schemes that really make this one pop. The colours are bold but in a subdued sense and the shots are perfectly timed and thought out, which is maybe why it feels so warm and homely.

GL are no strangers to being on the cutting edge of change, and this stunning video is no exception.
