OFELIA K has been launching herself into the music atmosphere over the last few months. After her first two releases received much praise and some top-notch remixes were thrown out there, she has launched her third single ‘Gone’ off her soon to be released debut EP.

The most distinctive thing about Ofelia K’s music is her voice. It sounds like awhisper against the intricate sounds, while maintaining a presence as if someone is telling you an intimate tale in a wide-open field. She has previously worked under the name Wanderhouse, and while her voice is recognisable it does sound very different in this work.

‘Gone’ is kind of chirpy, kind of melancholy. The chirpy side of it is a layering of sounds that are unique and kind of fun. It opens on the melancholy side of things, the lyrics tell a sad tale with some pretty sad piano chords. It slowly picks up to include the chirpy, optimistic sounding organ type sounds.

Working with Andy Rosen (AKA producer Doctor Rosen Rosen), ‘Gone’ was born out of the organ sounds Rosen had been playing with. Upon hearing them Ofelia K began building ‘Gone’. The sadness of the lyrics blurs with the optimism of the sounds, creating juxtaposition.

Ofelia K’s debut EP doesn’t yet have a release date, but it will certainly be one to watch out for.
