Live Review: KLP ‘Recover’ Ft Remi

7 October 2015 | 4:17 pm | Madeline Kilby

KLP is known to many for Triple J’s House Party, radio host and for her DJ work, but it turns out KLP needs to be praised as a songwriter, vocalist and producer on top of all this. Off the back of the very successful ‘Talkin’ Bout It’ collaboration with Young Franco, the Sydney-sider has just released ‘Recover’, teaming up with Melbourne rapper REMI, and proving that she is a Jill of All Trades.

‘Recover’ is Kristy Lee Peters (KLP) telling the story, and importantly the emotion, of a close friend trying to screw you over, being hurt, and finally reaching the point where you just don’t care anymore. KLP used writing and recording ‘Recover’ as a form of self therapy to help her get to this level.

The track is like a roller coaster of feelings. The start has an almost tribal or animalistic sound to it, followed by the rapping talent of Remi bursting into this song almost like a spasm of anger. Then in parts ‘Recover’ begins to sound almost like an up-beat pop song.

Produced by the UK’s LDN Noise, KLP’s vocals blend in with electronic percussion and warped, playful synths. The effect created in ‘Recover’, overall is quite racy, and to be perfectly frank, a nice piece of revenge on whoever screwed KLP over.

You can grab ‘Recover’ now via KLP’s site.
