Live Review: PREMIERE: Julietta 'Conquest' (Official Video)

9 September 2015 | 8:00 am | Tom Hutchins

For Julietta's first film clip, she enlisted the help of Andrew Noel, who centers the narrative around Libani as she whips through the mountains on a hog.

On the back of the first bars of any of her tracks, you can imagine that JULIETTA (aka Julia Libani) could slide in pretty easily with some of the world's biggest dark-pop artists. You know, like BANKS, Lana Del Rey, The Weeknd et al. So it's pretty wild that she only has one EP to her name.

Julietta's debut EP Conquest has certainly pushed her name amongst the big players, as she moulds an electro-pop influence together with cinematic instrumentation and trappy beats. Completing the package her silky, yet sharp vocals evoke a sense of power - the music will suck you in and the vocals will smack you in the face.

'Conquest' is a perfect example of this; smooth, almost bright instrumentation, met with lines like "it's not about the conquest, you little little man". Makes sense that the clip follows suit; a little bit blissful, a little bit melancholy and a little bit badass.

For Julietta's very first film clip, she enlisted the help of Andrew Noel, who centers the narrative around Libani as she whips through the mountains on the back of a chopper. Beautifully shot, it switches between the gorgeous scenery to black and white studio shots of Julietta singing those haunting vocals - almost as a inner-monologue.

Conquest EP is out now via Vitalic Noise. Buy HERE.
