Live Review: Pixx 'Fall In' (Official Video)

22 July 2015 | 12:13 pm | Emma Jones

The newest member of the legendary 4AD family, 19 year old Pixx, has left no question as to why with the release of her new track 'Fall In'.

19 year old Hannah Rodgers, or PIXX, has set the internet alight this week. Not only with the announcement is she the latest addition to the legendary 4AD family, but she dropped the song and video to prove why. Deep, pulsating and forward-thinking, Pixx has got everyone's attention, and probably will have for a long time to come.

Her voice immediately grabs you, even more so that the warbling vocal samples that open the track. Her intimate lyrics are delivered with a voice so captivating, as it floats above the bed of shifting beats and crisp claps. 'Fall In' is expertly produced, which gives it that little bit more depth and maturity, as it works it's way along to become one of the most original tracks I've heard in a long, long time.

It's artistic and experimental, but still envelopes a lot of pop stylings which is most likely the key to her success. Although it's a little left-field, it's still accessible enough to be enjoyable from the first listen, and many more after that.

The accompanying visuals see Pixx looking out to sea, interspersed with images of her floating in the ocean and laying in the sand. Although quite simplistic, it is exactly the clip that is needed to let the track itself do the talking, showing off Pixx in a natural and stripped back setting. However, it's the ending that grabs you, and is what makes her so exciting.

An EP is said to be on the way August 28, so until then 'Fall In' will have to do. Thankfully it's a track the reveals a little more of itself with each listen, so it feels like new every time.
