TEISCHA is a young Perth-based up-and-coming singer-songwriter. That’s a fair few hyphens. She’s only 18, yet has developed a mature and confident sound.

There are only three tracks up on her Soundcloud, showing a glimpse of her stripped-back electronica. Her latest song, ‘Couldn’t Care Less’, opens with melancholic piano and quivering, memorable vocals. It shows off her soulful and powerful voice, the touching instrumentation and a toe-tapping beat that keeps the song moving along nicely.

The chorus is meaty and vehement, showing a vulnerability and honesty behind her songwriting. Rhythmic and bristling with energy, she spits out the words "you know I couldn’t care less for the money". It’s a bit like when Jessie J sang ‘it’s not about the money money money’. Except for Jessie, it was about the money, all about the money really, she must have made bucketfuls from that track. When Teischa tells you that she doesn’t care about the money, it’s a lot sweeter and more believable.

It’s a heartfelt, sorrowful song with beautiful piano and violins. It’s touching in its bedroom style production and recording, with hints of electronica and R’n’B beneath a predominantly acoustic ambit.
