Live Review: Polographia ‘Rhythm’ Ft. Jordan Padilla

A chilled languid guitar hook opens POLOGRAPHIA’s new song ‘Rhythm’ before it slides across the dancefloor, Dirty Dancing-style, to fall into a simple and familiarly warming…well, rhythm.

Far-away vocals repeat that ‘I do everything I do with you’. It’s a love song about feeling in sync, being in rhythm with one another. Jordan Padilla’s soft ‘ahh’s and a faint child’s chanting in the final quarter create a cocoon of warm easy listening.

The Sydney duo comprise Moktar Youngblood and Daniel Finn (we know which name we’d prefer), have already self-released a debut EP, ‘Sunests’, which saw some great summertime remixes off the back of it and a collaboration with fellow Aussie duo Cosmo’s Midnight. Polographia’s funky guitars and synthy sun-soaked sound will resonate with local Syndersiders – having recently signed to Sweat It Out!, perhaps the duo will find a little more international success with the backing of a label.

Admittedly, the track does sound a lot like the beach party style of PANAMA or Flight Facilities, but this is no bad thing. In fact, it’s a great thing. Everyone loves an easy Tropicana house tune to drive along with or cook to or pretend to be writing that report to. Take four minutes out of your day now to have a listen, it’ll be very relaxing, we promise.

The single ‘Rhythm’ is out now, with the Natural EP soon to follow via Sweat It Out! Music.
