Low-lying LA-based electronic artist CHARACTER has released his debut EP via London label Hard Up. Lead track ‘Infidel’ is taken from this first offering, and signals to a producer who has an experimental vision in mind.

The title of the track is ominous and matches the sound which Character is creating; beat heavy and futuristic, ‘Infidel’ plays with rhythms as if trying to cram as many clicks and claps and hits and slaps into each bar.

The six-track EP is ‘driven by a frenzied, insulated energy’ that spans a range of sounds and moods. The mainstay beat in ‘Infidel’ is hip-hop, but there’s a mechanized, industrial texture that provides the backdrop for the lightly affronting track.

The drums are tightly wound with highly-strung synths and samples. You can get the track for free via XLR8R’s Soundcloud stream here, and the digital release drops on July 6 with a limited vinyl release to accompany.
