Live Review: Akouo 'In A Second'

24 July 2015 | 10:00 am | Emma Jones

Frantic but somehow still controlled, Akouo flexes his newly developed production chops in 'In A Second'.

He's already toured the US, made official remixes for ZHU and Gorgon City, and is now gearing up for Splendour In The Grass in the way he knows best - with a new track. Tasmanian producer AKOUO has released an absolute behemoth of a track in 'In A Second', and continues his almighty recent run of good tunes and and consequent good fortune.

Clearly taking note from his remixes, Akouo is channelling heavy Zhu vibes in this one, but has made it entirely his own. Dark, mysterious and exhilarating, the track plunges into some deep depths before bursting through again and again to the surface. Showing a tremendous step forwards in his production, Akouo has really outdone himself with this track.

From the first few seconds, with it's dramatic chords and echoing vocal samples, the dramatic track is a thrilling listen as it quickly changes direction, or dives straight back into the underground. Hypnotic and repetitive, Akouo very briefly touches the break pedal in this racing track as it pelts forward.

Frantic but somehow still controlled, Akouo flexes his newly developed production chops in 'In A Second'. This is his first new original material since his EP release last year, but has left us practically begging for more.
