Live Review: PREMIERE: Estelle 'American Boy' Ft. Kanye West (HOUNDED Remix)

It gives us great delight to throw some shade onto Wollongong based, HOUNDED, with a PREMIERE of his new club-crushing, banger-of-a-remix to that 2008 favourite, 'American Boy' by Estelle Ft. Kanye West.

20 year old Sydney sider Edan Visser, gives us his own interpretation of a Yeezy dancefloor classic with this brilliant new remix. Following the immediate success of his remixes, the body thumping takes on 'Touch the Sky' and  HOUNDED, turns the funky nature of 'American Boy' right up and propels it into a contemporary dance setting.

Using some deeply rooted bass, bright, reverberating percussion and space like pings, HOUNDED crunches up the original and pulls it right out of 2008. Without overpowering, he pays homage to original the Kanye vocals by pairing them with nothing more than a festive rhythm before intertwining heavy bass for the first minute of the track. After introducing and pacing up Estelle, he amps up the song with a dub beat and stretched out synths which lend it to a slightly grime-y aesthetic.

This talented producing prodigy knows how to pay attention to the original elements of a song and compliment the hell out of them with his unique sound.
