Live Review: Retiree 'Gundagai' (Official Video)

6 May 2015 | 11:12 am | Hannah Galvin

Sydney's Retiree have just dropped 'Gundagai' - the first single taken from their forthcoming This Place EP.

Sydney four-piece, RETIREE are gearing up to push out their brand new EP titled, This Place. With a release to be seen very soon, they've just dropped its first single, 'Gundagai'.

A perpetual Summer, Retiree never fail to extrapolate tropical vibes in their work, as if they've never known a dreary day. With a dense yet gentle keyline ricocheting the floor of 'Gundagai', a series of both live and sampled beats texturise the songs environment; bending into a series of shapes from their varying blunt and acute edges. Throw in a sultry bassline, a harmonising guitar riff and the wispy vocals at play to find a pretty sexy dance track; one to save for the slow groovers of any d-floor.

'Gundagai' is the first single taken from Retiree's forthcoming This Place EP, to be released in Australia and New Zealand via Plastic World. The EP will be accompanied by three conceptually related yet geographically disparate videos, filmed between Sydney, Melbourne and London. The above clip directed by Jack Peddey was shot on location in rural Victoria and offers an abstract view of the track.
