Live Review: Grasps_ ‘Bushido’

21 May 2015 | 3:09 pm | Caitlin Medcalf

Grasps_' track ‘Bushido’ was created for ‘Sidechains Club Vol. 1’, and it’s an incredible slice of trap guaranteed to make you drop it.

Sidechains have been absolutely killing it as of late. The Kings Cross based collective not only run a label, but they run a club night on a Friday, and they’re pretty big on getting some incredible local talent to run the decks.

They’ve just compiled a fabulous collaborative tape with some huge artists on it that really fit the group’s vibe and aesthetic.

One of those producers is GRASPS_, a bedroom producer and DJ from Sydney. His track ‘Bushido’ was created for the colab tape, Sidechains Club Vol. 1, and it’s an incredible slice of trap guaranteed to make you drop it.

The track itself gets straight into it, with a slow fade into layer upon layer of trap goodness, and it’s only when the percussion hits that the anticipation hits as well.

He’s got a real knack for delivering on this slow climax, and throwing in some huge bass with a slight hip hop influence on the production at the same time.

Grasps_ is definitely no stranger to making some killer beats, and it’s killer that a collective like Sidechains is getting behind some fantastic up and comers, particularly in Sydney.
