Live Review: Tkay Maidza 'M.O.B' (JOY. Remix)

25 April 2015 | 12:15 pm | Emma Jones

Brisbane up-and-comer JOY. has tested her remix chops out for Tkay Maidza's 'M.O.B', turning it into a trap heavy rework heavy on the party vibes!

It's no secret that Adelaide's Tkay Maidza is about 4 months into her biggest year yet, and the release of her latest single 'M.O.B' only added to the hype surrounding her at the moment. She's currently on a sell out headline national tour, bringing her fresh rhymes and unreal beats to huge crowds of adoring fans.

Carefully selecting her support acts for the tour, she recruited UV BOI and JOY. - both Brisbane natives - to help get the party started. Now it seems friendships were forged and solidified, and that it isn't all party whilst on the road, with JOY. dropping one hell of a remix for Tkay's latest song.

Showing a completely different side than we've previously heard in her singles such as 'Captured or Stone', JOY. has managed to rework 'M.O.B' into an even heavier track, loading up on party vibes and trap beats. Huge drops and huge bass fill out this surprising but so damn good remix, complete with sped up samples of Tkay's unique singing before it gets sliced up in amongst the marching drums, hard hitting bass and surprisingly delicate keys.

This remix comes in between a few key support roles for the young Brisbane artist, who recently toured with Flamingo and is set to support George Maple at her Sydney show as well. Tkay Maidza and JOY. are a match made in heaven with this 'M.O.B' remix, and this has me very excited indeed to hear what else JOY. is capable of!
