Live Review: Shamir 'Call It Off' (Official Video)

27 March 2015 | 10:00 am | Emma Jones

Las Vegas rising star Shamir releases his latest film clip for his song 'Call It Off' - a Jim Henson puppet infused upbeat and feel good video.

One of our Artists to Watch for 2015 was the unstoppable SHAMIR. Proving he's not going anywhere, the Las Vegas artist has just dropped the new clip for his track Call It Off - a puppet featuring, technicolour video that is the perfect representation of the song.

Written about “the transformative joy we feel when we finally get ourselves out of bummer situations – relationships, bad career moves, whatever it is,” 'Call It Off' is as fun and infectious as you'd expect it to be with that description. Combining Shamir's future style leanings with a borderline drum n bass kick, the euphoric track spends little time getting into the thick of things.

Following from his massive 2014 single 'On The Regular', playful vocals, cow-bell, thumping bass and laser synths work together with hand claps to make the feel good track what it is.

Somehow adding to the already plentiful good vibes is the accompanying film clip. Created for the YouTube Music AwardsShamir teamed up with Philip Hodges, a man who holds an office at Jim Henson Studios. Showing Shamir transform from his real life self to his puppet self, the latter runs around a clothing store blasting shoppers with coloured string so they too can transform. Hodges created Shamir his very own Henson style puppet for the clip, which was inspired by the artist's Las Vegas life.

'Call It Off' is the second single from Shamir's forthcoming LP, Ratchet which is tipped to come out May 15th. Judging from this track as well as his single from last year, we were correct in naming him an Artist to Watch - a year which will undoubtedly be his biggest yet.
