HEART PEOPLE is the collective project of two Sydney-based eclectic creators. You would recognise Ryan Grieve through his work as part of CANYONS, but he’s since branched out and in 2014, this led HEART PEOPLE to be conceived.

He’s teamed up with Rachell Rutt, a widely regarded Australian model and artist who made a splash towards the end of 2014 with her own line of knitwear.

The creation of HEART PEOPLE came about through a meeting of mutual friends, and the two clicked and have since worked wonders together.

They’ve only just recently put out their debut single, ‘Blue Star’, which you can currently download for free here. However, not halting the productivity, they’ve also released an incredibly stunning new video clip to accompany this single.

This track is fueled by a careful production scale, one ranging from intensely proportionate to one that feels overtly experimental, and I think it’s this big production ethic that really stands out. Rachel has lent her powerfully whispy and raw vocals to the track, and it characterises their style well.

The video is this stunning visual representation of the track, and is so effective in making poignant intermittent breaks where the track does so. It’s the extent of the landscapes and birds-eye view shots that truly escalate this track to almost transcendent heights. I think if anything, they’ve done an incredibly smart job in utilising the video in order to attach this eternal, visual stigma to the track, and it’s one that creates a solid “map” of where it’s heading next.

It’s their intelligently informed inceptions that when combined, make for this interesting project. Eclectic, wondrous and quite beautiful, HEART PEOPLE have already got me in the palm of their hands.

No idea where she’ll be in 10 years, but as long as she has a good record and a glass of white wine, she’ll be sweet.
