Live Review: Crown Ruff ‘Yazz Classics’

24 March 2015 | 5:58 pm | Caitlin Medcalf

Crown Ruff have just dropped their debut single. Titled 'Yazz Classics', the LA duo have looked into the past for this one.

CROWN RUFF literally has only put out one track. 'Yazz Classics' is their first, and hell is it good.

The single itself was only put out within the last couple of days, but it’s already garnered over 2k plays on SoundCloud and a nice little following for the LA duo has already begun.

‘Yazz Classics’ has inklings of some killer influences here. Disclosure immediately comes to mind, but I think it goes a little deeper than that.

It’s got some killer veins that stem from jazz, soul and disco, and it’s the mix of all three with a little deep house thrown in the mix that makes this influential number an instant hit.

It brings back a retrospective sort of understanding, and I think in an industry that’s always changing, it’s refreshing to be thrown into the past and reminded of the greats.

It’s smooth, collected and in all aspects of the word, refreshing. Crown Ruff are onto something, and it’s only going to get bigger from here.
