Live Review: Kasper Bjørke 'Apart' ft. Sísý Ey (Official Video)

Kasper Bjørke debuts his video clip for 80s synth-pop anthem 'Apart' and it's as evocative and strange as you'd hope.

Danish superwiz Kasper Bjorke has debuted the video clip for his latest track 'Apart' - a synth heavy anthem that's accompanying clip is equally as engaging and provocative as the original song.

A prominent Dj, producer and remixer, Bjorke's has been putting out his own music since 1999. 'Apart' is his latest cut off his 2014 record 'After Forever'.

'Apart' is equal parts new and old. With drum beats and synthpop sounds coming straight out of the 80s, the production and vocal chops of Sísý Ey reigate the song back to the present. It's a dark, reflective slice of an old school electropop.

Whilst the lyrics are comprised of heartbreak and letting go - with the main chorus repeating the catchy "Nothings gonna break my heart/ Now that we have grown apart" - the video clip instead delves into self-discovery mode, with the female protagonist going through many phases of self actualisation.

Director Karim Huu Do explores femininity and the female form in depth with stock clips of Simone Be Beauvoir playing in the intro of the clip. She extends this through beautifully filmed shots of the naked form of a young female, which is juxtaposed by the fragility of an old, wrinkly women.

As director Huu Do told Dazed: "There's something really unique about the different stages and changes that a woman's body goes through".

Unlike the ephemeral quality of youth and beauty, 'Apart' and its artistically sound video clip don't look like they  wither anytime soon.
