Live Review: Kagu 'Human'

3 February 2015 | 12:03 am | Clare Mingorance

Snakadaktal lives on as Sean Heathcliff drops his second single under his latest project, Kagu.

It wasn't too long ago that I thought I'd never quite recover from the news that Snakadaktal had made the decision to split. However, thanks new music like this, I'm slowing coming out of that post-Snakadaktal depression.

I was given hope earlier last year when the band's lead singer Pheobe Lou featured on Hopium's track 'Dreamers', and now another band member, SEAN HEATHCLIFF, has started his own solo project.

Going by the name of KAGU, HEATHCLIFF just days ago he dropped his latest track, 'Human'. This track is his second solo release, and the first taste of his upcoming EP. HEATHCLIFF made his debut as KAGU about two months ago, when he released 'Shadow Of The Wind', a much more downtempo and emotional track than that of his latest.

Jam-packed with electric guitar riffs, combined with a swaying bassline, and at moments laced with fresh synths, HEATHCLIFF creates a dreamy soundscape where his vocals float a-top effortlessly. There's something just so smooth about this track... the kind of music you could easily listen to for hours on end.

Having taken out the 2011 Triple J Unearthed High title back in his high school days as a part of Snakadaktal, HEATHCLIFF has clearly been making music from a young age, making me all the more excited to watch him progress as a solo artist. My hopes are high!

KAGU's debut EP is set to drop in March via Humming Records.
