Live Review: Alxndr London 'Gunshot'

18 February 2015 | 2:06 pm | Emma Jones

Fresh faced Alxndr London has delivered his second single, Gunshot, which sees him continue to blend soul vocals with electronic production in the best way!

Innovative as ever, ALXNDR LONDON is back with another genre infused tune that has managed to prop him up even further against the rest of "alternative r'n'b" or "future soul" acts. Gunshot is big, powerful and intertwines all of Alxndr's favourite styles to create a stellar sophomore single!

The sharp, pounding beats symbolising gunshots, vocals with attitude and dynamic production sees London becoming more ambitious with this track, the follow-up to his sublime debut, Cold Sun.

His impeccable soul stylings in his singing juxtaposed with forward thinking production - although a format that is more and more prevalent in mainstream circuits as well as alternative ones - are expertly matched once again to allow him to step away from the generic formats into a league of his own.

There is more to his singing than the usual breathy, gentle vocal stylings often found in this type of music, and it's this that makes Alxndr London one to watch. He isn't holding back with his voice, and instead has chosen to showcase it against the 80's tinged production. Neither element overpowers the other, but rather compliments and enhances the differences in styles. From classic kick-snare combos to unhinged synth jabs, the track combines elements from all over the place giving it a familiar yet unique feel.

Alxndr London has been receiving a lot of love on the Internet since the arrival of Cold Sun, despite remaining silent between releases and no word of anything in the future. Until then, these two tracks will have to get us through, because I could easily do with a whole album of this!
