Live Review: Real Slow 'Girl U Know'

8 January 2015 | 11:55 pm | Emma Jones

Australian producer Real Slow releases new track 'Girl U Know' - a vibrant house tune that continues to show the producer's versatility and skill.

REAL SLOW (also known as Dylan Marks) has been making waves around the Internet for the last few months now. The Australian producer is not one to stay in any single genre for long, with his tracks ranging from trap to chill-wave to tropical house.

His latest efforts, Girl U Know, is a bright and fun slice of house that shows another facet of the producer's seemingly endless array of influences.

Skittering house beats, warped vocal samples and his now trademark synths make up this summer jam. Marks has also shown some restraint to make it a little more downtempo than your average tropical house, thus creating even more intrigue into just what is going on here with REAL SLOW.

The track starts off with some static noise and atmospheric synths, before kicking in immediately with the vocal samples and house beats. It then breaks down with REAL SLOW's signature synths, and vocal loops and skittering cymbals. Heavier synths and deeper vocals interject, creating a dynamic nature as it weaves back and forth.

Girl U Know was released alongside another track, What I Want Right Now, which follows similar lines of tropical, summery house music. He also recently released an EP late last year titled Things That Remind Me Of You. Drenched in house stylings but somehow cherrypicking what he pleases from other genres, Things That Remind Me Of You, as well as the double release of Girl U Know/What I Want Right Now put REAL SLOW on a very high pedestal indeed. It's only a matter of time before this guy really catches on!
