Live Review: Prinze George 'Upswing'

19 January 2015 | 9:00 am | Clare Mingorance

Brooklyn-based electro-pop newcomers Prinze George have recently dropped their catchy single 'Upswing'.

Forming in 2013, PRINZE GEORGE is made up of Naomi Almquist (vocals), Kenny Grimm and Isabelle De Leon. After turning  heads with their track 'Victor' close to a year ago, the trio since released a number of tracks throughout 2014, proving themselves as ones to watch.

This included the release of acoustic-influenced 'Don't Speak To Me', and the more mellow, beat-heavy sounds of 'Make Me', just to name a couple.

However, despite being their sixth song release, there is definitely a certain freshness to 'Upswing'. Filled with shimmering synths and a striking bassline, there really is no holding back. Almquist's deep and soulful vocals are extremely powerful and build upon the already smooth-sounding production. It's a great thing watching artists grow over time, and this is undeniably some of the bands' best work yet.

Striking a slight similarity to electro-pop princess Chela, I picture this as the kind of tune you crank up while driving, windows down on a highway.

Treat your ears to a little slice of electro-pop heaven.
