Live Review: Yolanda Be Cool & DCUP 'Sugar Man' (Indian Summer Remix)

1 December 2014 | 12:00 am | Lauren Payne

Yolanda Be Cool and DCUP covered 'Sugarman' and now Indian Summer have remixed it.

'We No Speak Americano' was the infectious hit that YOLANDA BE COOL produced with DCUP way back when and proved when this trio got together, magical things happen.

Now with their new track 'Sugarman', the producers have created a great new track that has now been remixed by the INDIAN SUMMER boys.

YOLANDA BE COOL and DCUP's mix of 'Sugarman' pays wonderful homage to the classic track that Rodriguez recorded. Keeping the original vocals intact and adding only the slightest amount of distortion to them, the dream team focused more on the transformation of the melody. Injecting a series of bursting synths and an groovy beat, YOLANDA BE COOL and DCUP developed a wonderful rendition of 'Sugarman', but INDIAN SUMMER decided that things needed to be turned up a notch.

The guys have added some very vibrant synths into the melody and created an almost sunrise effect where the track raises itself into an energetic chorus. the vocals have been chopped and distorted, but only too add to the now full chorus of house synths and heavy samples.

INDIAN SUMMER have produced a track we'll be hearing in clubs everywhere for a very long time whilst YOLANDA BE COOL and DCUP have the piece we'll be singing along to on the long summer road trips. It seems like we now have a good dose of 'Surgarman' for any occasion.
