Live Review: Electric Sea Spider 'Magic Jaw'

A myriad of rich soundscapes with a story to match, grab a free digital download of Electric Sea Spider's, 'Magic Jaw'.

Melbourne man Jim Sellars has been experimenting with his intrinsic production for some time now. Establishing himself under the name, ELECTRIC SEA SPIDER, the artist has recently released his new single, 'Ten Hunters'. Now coupled with a B-side, check out the single's counterpart, 'Magic Jaw'.

Collectively, the two cast a series of personalities. Where, 'Ten Hunters' goes from elemental to industrial, 'Magic Jaw' frames more of a bold storyline through the use of ethnic soundscapes embedded in a high volume of vibrant textures.

With the motif of bells, chimes and chants vibrating off of one another, 'Magic Jaw' initially envelopes a curious being exploring unknown territory. Moving deeper into the thickets of this audible forest, the adventure is almost wiped out by the enormity of a dark, slimey synth monster. Successfully escaping its line of sight, the journey suddenly evolves from intrigue to fulfilment, as 'Magic Jaw' matures into a royal [yet modest] kingdom of paradise.
