Live Review: Deutsch Duke ‘Feels Good’

1 October 2014 | 10:00 am | Caitlin Medcalf

Fairly fresh onto the scene, ‘Feels Good’ is Deutsch Duke's debut release. It’s cheeky in its build, careful in its prowess and monstrous in its delivery.

Debut tracks are always rather enigmatic. I mean, it gives us a taste of an artist, but it doesn’t really give us an entire insight into the mind of the creative connoisseur at work.

But there is occasionally the rare track that makes you remember why it’s so refreshing to hear something so raw and full to the brim with incredible potential. Sydney’s DEUTSCH DUKE has done just that.

A DISCLOSURE-esque chorus lines the inner tubing of the well-oiled machine, and really drives this feel forward. The producer has made something really cool here, combining elements of RnB, classic house and even a tinge of disco running rampant through the dark alleys.

A siren-like sustained synth treads carefully along the backdrop, and I think that really helps to subtly set a sort of heightened sense of panic and pandemonium in this carefully orchestrated number.

DEUTSCH DUKE's track definitely ‘Feels Good’ in the way that it is refreshing, honest, powerful and expertly wielded.
