Live Review: Banks 'Drowning' (Stwo Remix)

24 October 2014 | 12:01 am | Lauren Payne

Stwo is the latest producer to give Banks the remix treatment.

Nearly every single on her debut album Goddess has been remixed by worthy producers and today, STWO has had a crack at BANK's 'Drowning' and it's sounding pretty decent.

STWO has brought us a fair few decent remixes. JAY PRINCE has had the producer tweak his track 'I Stay On My Cool' but his BANKS remix is probably one of his best yet. BANKS' sultry vocals were definitely dominating her original mix of 'Drowning'. The chopped vocals were layered wonderfully with the similarly chopped synths, but the entire track still sounded smooth and flowed easily, despite all of the sharp cuts.

The remix still features the strong vocal track that BANKS recorded, however all of the chopping has been turned down quite a bit. 'Drowning' has been injected with the most explosive synths making STWO's remix sound bigger and better suited for the dance floor. A few cropped vocals have been used in the remix, but only briefly. The vocals quickly pop up in between the song's introduction and the first verse that BANKS churns out before completely being replaced by BANKS' full voice.

With some sections becoming quite upbeat and other staying quiet and delicate, STWO has showcased his talents whilst also staying relatively true to the original 'Drowning' mix.
