Live Review: BadBadNotGood & Ghostface Killah 'Gunshowers' ft. Elzhi

21 October 2014 | 12:00 am | Clare Mingorance

Jazz meets hip-hop on BadBadNotGood's new track, featuring Wu Tang alumni Ghostface Killah and Elzhi.

Just following the announcement of the release of a new LP, Canadian jazz-inspired producer trio BADBADNOTGOOD, have dropped their latest tune Gunshowers. As can be seen in the video below, and recognised by his distinct 'Wu-Tang' vocals, GHOSTFACE KILLAH features on the track, alongside Detroit rapper, ELZHI.

Drawing on inspiration from music back in the days of the soulful 60s and 70s, this is the perfect mix of jazz and hip-hop, where funk and soul have no limits. Old school vibes are also felt for all you Wu-lovers.

This is not the first time the trio has collaborated with GHOSTFACE, with recent track Six Degrees dropping earlier this year. Also featuring Danny Brown, this track has given us a taste of what their upcoming album has to offer.

Previously working with the likes of Tyler, the Creator and Frank Ocean, BADBADNOTGOOD have become famous for their smooth blend of the jazz and hip-hop genres. The upcoming album will be no exception, after having revealed that all tracks are to feature the Wu-Tang legend, creating “a cinematic musical staging for GHOSTFACE’s vivid story telling”.

Frank Dukes, who has previously worked with artists such as 50 cent and Danny Brown, is set to be in charge of production, and the upcoming record is to be released via Lex Records. The album, titled Sour Soul, is expected to drop on the 17th of February 2015.

This track is just a taste of what this "killah" collaboration has to offer. Check it out and see what you think.
