Live Review: Violent Soho 'Fur Eyes' (Official Video)

10 July 2014 | 8:09 pm | Hannah Galvin

Brisbane's Violent Soho have just released the film clip to their track, 'Fur Eyes'.

Hot off the back of releasing their sophomore full-length Hungry Ghost, Brisbane four piece VIOLENT SOHO found themselves in high demand as a result of the craft they had so brilliantly executed.

An innovative army of tunes, the eleven-track LP exhales a large sonic field fuelled by the band's touring experiences and newfound perspective of music. As each track closes with anthemic praise, it's always a bonus experiencing the visual accompaniment, as we've witnessed the unfolding of Hungry Ghost's film clips apply to the creativity of Violent Soho's expansive catalogue; their most recent aiding 'Fur Eyes'.

Simplistic in the clip's given environment, there's immediately something not quite right with frontman Luke Boerdam's eyes as they exchange a series of winks working unnaturally with the singer's placid face. Soon learning that this has been achieved through an editing tool, we watch as the entirety of 'Fur Eyes' is made up of chopped scenes fused together to establish a deceptively complete frame. Lyrically inspired by the physically mutated characters of Charles Burns' graphic novel Black Hole, the visuals to 'Fur Eyes' pays homage to the drive behind its conception.
