Live Review: Chromeo Release In-Flight Safety Video For Mallard Air

2 July 2014 | 7:20 pm | Caitlin Medcalf

Chromeo, accompanied by their track ‘Frequent Flyer’, have buckled down to create an in-flight safety procedure for Mallard Air.

Miles high above their game like never before, Canadian electro-funk connoisseurs CHROMEO aren’t just known for their eclectic album work, but are also known for their witty banter and outrageous sense of humour.

The worst part about getting on a plane is the flight safety walkthrough. Everyone knows that. No matter how many times you board a plane, it somehow is identical every time, no matter the airline. Kinda creepy, right? CHROMEO have got you covered, and accompanied by their track ‘Frequent Flyer’, they have buckled down to create a new in-flight safety procedure for Mallard Air that’ll make your flight… memorable.

Lasers, disco floors, booze, dancing and more colours than a rainbow adorn the video, but thoughtfully, the boys still remember to remind you to fasten your seatbelt.

It escalates more and more, to the point where I don’t really think anyone is actually even flying the plane anymore, but that’s the nature of their music. The toe tapping beat of the track paired with the almost hip-hop esq. vocals, drive the track to heights that escalate particularly so during the chorus. The female vocalist sings over a definite synth, and then goes back down into this pool of funk.

Plane’s going down? Have another cocktail.
