Live Review: Lxury 'Company'

4 July 2014 | 6:26 pm | Lauren Payne

Lxury has released the second track from his Playground EP and it's a tad more structured than it's title track.

There are danceable electronic tracks out there and there are the tracks that you just want to listen to whilst laying in the sun on a relaxing afternoon, LXURY's track 'Company' falls into the latter category.

Off the back of his latest EP Playground, LXURY has released 'Company' as a single to no doubt highlight it's unique sound that just feels so calm as it organically flows throughout it's six minutes.

LXURY, aka Andy Smith, has made a huge dent in the electronic scene although he;s only released a handful of material. The producer became most known for his track 'J.A.W.S' after DISCLOSURE featured it on their BBC Essential Mix and now we just can't seem to get enough of him. When his Playground EP was released roughly a month ago, LXURY quickly received praise from across the globe and the title track took us back to our younger days whilst presenting a fun mix of light synth melodies.

'Company' has a slightly harder beat than 'Playground' and actually establishes itself as a structural piece from the get go. With heavy percussion and drum machines quickly taking control of 'Company', the track creates it backbone and soon the synths and distorted vocals wrap around the percussion and follow it's lead. There are a fair few layers in company that all have their chance to stand out. the percussion stays consistent with smooth synths being highlighted early on in the track, and beaming melodies bursting through later on.

It's hard not to love 'Company' as you're left dancing to it and having the percussion elements stuck in your head for quite a while. You see yourself singing along to it as it plays and humming it when it doesn't, LXURY knows what we love and he creates beautiful tracks that we just can't seem to forget. The Playground EP is out now through Greco-Roman and can be purchased digitally from all of those usual outlets.
