Live Review: Cut Copy 'Believers'

25 July 2014 | 12:00 am | Lauren Payne

Cut Copy have released five new tracks with their Free You Mind Deluxe Edition and 'Believers' is one you'll want to play on repeat.

With the release of the deluxe edition of Free Your Mind, CUT COPY have gone all out and released with it a brand new unheard track called 'Believers'.

With the original album being released last November, the Melbourne artists have been travelling far and wide to perform those bright technicolor tracks to their fans only returning to Australia once for a few home shows. So with one of our best exports always being out of our reach, having a deluxe edition to their latest album will hopefully keep us going until they return.

'Believers' is merely one of the five new songs that have been added to the Free Your Mind Deluxe Edition. Recorded during the Free Your Mind sessions, this piece was one that unfortunately didn't make the final cut of the album, which is quite surprising as it has CUT COPY written all over it.

Opening with wonderfully deep synth beats 'Believers' embodies the best parts of every CUT COPY track we've heard since Free Your Mind's release. With Dan Whitford's vocals suddenly bursting through the thin layer of synths, the track is suddenly given body before bursting into a sunbeam of house synths and harmonies. CUT COPY have always has a slightly magical sound to their tracks, especially in their later singles, and 'Believers' seems to carry that tradition on with shimming synths that frame Whitford's vocals.

The Free Your Mind Deluxe Edition is now available to buy digitally and if you haven't had the chance to steam any of the new tracks yet, get ready for some pretty amazing sounds.
