Live Review: Doprah 'Stranger People' (Official Video)

26 June 2014 | 4:12 pm | Adriana Barro

Visuals for Doprah's 'Stranger People' have arrived, and they're pretty goddamn strange.

The clip for New Zealand duo DOPRAH's track 'Stranger People' has been released, and yes, it is every bit as unusual as you expected, and then some. 'Stranger People' is the first track off the self titled debut EP DOPRAH, which was released on Arch Hill Recordings earlier in the month.

The visuals for 'Stranger People' definitely enhances its jangly, eerie sounds, with the echoing vocals of members STEVEN MARR and INDIRA FORCE that glide around the slightly unnerving backing track. The clip stars FORCE as a miniature kawaii doll figure, being pulled and prodded from above as her and her masked anime side kicks dance around in a very mechanical fashion.

Don't be fooled by the colour palette that looks like a packet of Crayola crayons melted in there, because as the clip progresses things start getting kind of weird. Actually not 'kind of weird', just plain weird. In short, MARR appears as gamer girl Sailor Scout and by the end.. let me just say you probably won't be dusting off your old dollhouse any time soon.

As to be expected by the unique duo who describe their music as "a sinister and evil cult which lures young people into drug-taking", this clip is completely strange, and equally as wonderful.
