Live Review: WATCH: SOHN 'Bloodflows' (Live 4AD Session)

3 April 2014 | 5:03 pm | Nick Luke

Watch the latest edition of the 4AD sessions, a live performance of 'Bloodflows' by SOHN.

In yet another stunning addition to the 4AD sessions series, English singer/producer SOHN has released an intense live rendition of his synth-laden single entitled 'Bloodflows'.

Clad in his usual mystical/druidic attire, SOHN (aka Christopher Taylor) joined by two identically clad occult figures on different instruments bares all in the up close and personal format.

A YouTube series by the legendary label 4AD serves as a platform for some of the labels artists to perform their music to the worlds audience in an isolated, yet comfortable, one-on-one environment - a setting which fits perfectly with the sound and style of this artist.

Sonically calming, and visually enigmatic, SOHN is draped in blackened robes with a deep red hue surrounding the producer and his ensemble. Lit only from behind via surging tubes of light, and blinking hardware LED's, only the contours of each member's face can made out throughout the performance - matching the mysterious and tender tone of the track.

Warm and soothing synthesisers with padded bass-guitar caress SOHN's gentle voice throughout the track - there are no sharp edges within 'Bloodflows' as everything fluently moves from one section to another, before erupting into a focused coda.

The release of the latest 4AD sessions performance by SOHN has arrived just in time to coincide with the announcement of his latest US tour dates, with the young producer crossing the country throughout May to play a huge number of shows.
