Live Review: LISTEN: Movement 'Ivory'

22 April 2014 | 12:08 pm | Hannah Galvin

Sydney trio Movement have given us the second taste of their eponymous EP with their new single, 'Ivory'.

Sydney three piece MOVEMENT certainly wooed us over with their eponymous EP's leading single 'Like Lust'. Carrying the same vibe of the track, they've disrobed the forthcoming release's second offering, 'Ivory' (with additional production and mixing from Illangelo of The Weeknd).

When you think of the colour ivory, you envision an elegant shade so close to white that it almost seems cold enough to be just as dreary and lonesome. Movement have flawlessly encapsulated this concept to create the life of their latest single. Shattering the silence with a choir of recycled cries brushed with a stroke of femininity, we're soon after grabbed by a pounding beat throwing us against the walls of the sonic space. Allowing a sharp key line to resound, shifting the mood of the track, the textural component of 'Ivory' begins to heighten; however, this lift ceases not long after it begins.

Casting the limelight back onto the heavenly penchant vocals of Lewis Wade with the shriek of a grovelling guitar not too far off the board, 'Ivory' is riddled with profound beauty beneath its petulant disguise.

'Ivory' is to feature on Movement's forthcoming self-titled EP, available through Modular People on Friday, 2nd May. To help celebrate the debut release, the outfit will be launching the four-track body of work around Australia with their national tour before taking it overseas for their England show and Modular's FOR Festival over in Croatia.
