Live Review: SOUNDCLOUD WRAP: Olympic Ayres + 'Take Flight' (Official Video)

13 March 2014 | 1:45 pm | Nick Luke

We sat down with one of our fav Aussie indie duo's Olympic Ayres and found out what was on their musical radars at the moment in our latest SoundCloud Wrap.

The homegrown indie-pop duo from Sydney, old mates OLYMPIC AYRES have just dropped the official video for their latest single 'Take Flight'. With the release of their latest video further increasing anticipation for their upcoming 2014 debut EP 'Leisureplex', we thought it was high time we had a chat with the dudes.

The narrative video for the single takes us into the home of an elderly man, (and without giving too much away) we follow him through his youth, life experiences, and more (the cosmos) - all through the lens of a dodgy old telly in his living room.

We found ourselves digging on this tune so much (and how could you not, right?) that we just had to get in touch with the OLYMPIC AYRES boys and see what's on their musical radars at the moment. Here's what they said:

OSCAR KEY SUNG 'All I Could Do'

'I haven't had a chance to dive deep into his EP yet but if its anything like this I'll be very happy. This track in particular has been on constant repeat and has a killer video. Have been a fan since the Oscar + Martin album!'

MOVEMENT 'Like Lust'

'Another track I had on repeat when I first heard it. These boys are releasing an EP soon and this is the first taste. Oh them feels! So chill, so good. Produced with ILLANGELO (who worked with THE WEEKND) ... Can't wait to hear the EP!'

PANAMA 'Strange Feeling'

'New one by Sydney legends PANAMA. Really been enjoying there direction lately with the 'Always' EP and this song is an extension on this. Great feel good songwriting.'

FAVORED NATIONS 'Regular Pussy'

'FAVORED NATIONS is Surahn Sidhu, James Curd and Morgan Phalen ... this super group formed recently and have put out a couple great tracks. It's very hard to use humour in tracks like this and get away with it, but I think they've nailed it (no pun intended).'

T. WILLIAMS & SHADOWN CHILD 'Want You To'

'I discovered T. WILLIAMS at the end of 2013 in Thailand, which is probably the last place you expect to discover new music. He was touring through the islands and I got to catch his DJ set ... His productions are great.'

TENSNAKE & JACQUES LU CONT 'Feel Of Love' (ft. JAMIE LIDELL)

'Besides the obvious PRINCE influence, this track stands very strongly on its own. The world needs more Funk!'

ACADDAMY 'Need Someone'

'Local Sydney up and comer ... great house vibes! More pls sir.'

JUNGLE 'Busy Earnin'

'This is my life anthem at the moment... A++++ would buy again.'

LITTLE DRAGON 'Klapp Klapp'

'One of my favourite bands have yet to disappoint me. What a great idea for an intro (acoustic upright bass blended into synth bass) Those vocal hooks are classic ... Lets get married Yukimi plz.'

THE JUAN MACLEAN 'Get Down'

'Always got time for Juan and Nancy, as a matter of fact that time is now.'

OLYMPIC AYRES' debut EP 'Leisureplex' is set to be released in the second half of 2014. Stay tuned for more.
