Live Review: LISTEN: Tame Impala 'Stranger In Moscow' (Michael Jackson Cover)

15 March 2014 | 11:56 am | Lauren Payne

Tame Impala's Kevin Parker has recorded a touching cover to the late King of Pop.

"Fresh out of the oven. MJ 4 eva". TAME IMPALA frontman Kevin Parker seems to be a man who can do no wrong.

With his most known project winning an ARIA for their latest release Lonerism, their track  'Feels Like We Only Go Backwards' being one of the most popular of last year and the large series of TAME IMPALA cover tracks by everyone from SAY LOU LOU to THE FLAMING LIPS, Kevin Parker's demand right now is undeniable.

When the death of MICHAEL JACKSON was announced years ago, tributes came in from people from all walks of life. Musicians, actors, businessmen, doctors even students and children still in preschool shared their sympathies. Kevin Parker seems to have a soft spot for the King of Pop as his new cover of JACKSON's 'Stranger In Moscow' reveals.

With a watery atmosphere that features atmospheric synths, this feels like it is lighter than air. Parker's own vocals add in a signature psychedelic twist that is apparent in all of his work, be it intentional or not. A smooth tribute that feels just perfect for an early morning listen, 'Stranger In Moscow' is wonderful tribute to the late MICHAEL JACKSON.

TAME IMPALA have recently collaborated with KENDRICK LAMAR for an upcoming film soundtrack... is there anything the Perth boys can't do?
