Live Review: LISTEN: Olympic Ayres 'Take Flight'

4 March 2014 | 1:05 pm | Hannah Galvin

Sydney duo Olympic Ayres have allowed us their first taste of their Leisureplex EP with the single, 'Take Flight'.

After self-releasing their three consecutive Episode instalments, Sydney duo OLYMPIC AYRES are almost ready to share with us their debut EP 'Leisureplex'. Before we can hear the work in its entirety, they've dropped its leading single, 'Take Flight'.

If you're all for nostalgic Summery gems in the sonic realm, look no further than 'Take Flight'. Although super mellow, it fashions a sun-kissed edge, thanks to the tropics of such lush instrumentation applied and present throughout the entire course of the track. The devices used are rather colourful, though not in a way that screams out for attention. They're warm and friendly, yet approach you with quite a modest demeanour.

Championing a light guitar melody, soft keyboards, a fantastically poised bassline and encouraging drums that support the network of instruments the whole way through, this dreamy backdrop has been perfectly coupled with sensational vocal work that ultimately soars through the gentle haze peacefully and with great taste.

Olympic Ayres' 'Take Flight' is the first taste of what is to come from their forthcoming debut EP Leisureplex. Although there is no specific date on when this EP is to be released, we can expect it in the later half of 2014 alongside remixes by James Curd and Acaddamy.
