Live Review: LISTEN: Olympic Ayres 'Take Flight' (James Curd Remix)

29 March 2014 | 6:40 pm | Nick Luke

Chicago/Adelaide producer James Curd takes on the latest Olympic Ayres single 'Take Flight' with a fresh house remix.

You may of heard lately - The tropico-inspired two piece indie outfit that is OLYMPIC AYRES has returned to the spotlight in the past few weeks with their latest single 'Take Flight'. Cue the remixes.

Their latest single 'Take Flight' (along with the rad video clip) is a fresh sunburst of guitars, synths and bass - a tropically-infused sound that the OLYMPIC AYRES boys are becoming increasingly synonymous with.

Taken from their upcoming 'Leisureplex' EP, 'Take Flight' has been doing the rounds on our radars for the past few weeks, so it's exciting to see that the tune has already got a club-friendly counterpart at its side in the form of an official remix, brought to us by the Chicago-native, current Adelaide resident deep house producer JAMES CURD.

The remix gives the original track a bump up in grooviness under the section marked 'club', with a solid house vibe, and a pulsing and racey beat. All this is combined with super-fun, playful bass synths and vocal chops reminiscent of the original tune.

With the JAMES CURD remix breaking the ice, could we possibly expect more remixes from the OLYMPIC AYRES boys, like we've seen from them in the past? Here's hoping!

OLYMPIC AYRES’ debut EP ‘Leisureplex’ is set to be released in the second half of 2014. Stay tuned for more.
