Live Review: LISTEN: The Aston Shuffle 'Tear It Down' (SAFIA & Indian Summer Remixes)

28 January 2014 | 2:03 pm | Hannah Galvin

Canberra's Safia and Melbourne's Indian Summer have remixed The Aston Shuffle's latest track 'Tear It Down'.

Sydney/Canberra duo THE ASTON SHUFFLE released their latest single 'Tear It Down' at the start of last month. Ahead of its very own national tour, the boys have handed the track over to SAFIA and INDIAN SUMMER for the ultimate remix treatment.

With the opening keys slowed down and the vocal tone lowered, Safia have instantly created the soul version of 'Tear It Down'. Due to this adopted demeanour, the track feels relaxed as the beat makes it seem as though The Aston Shuffle are walking through a thick marsh, pulling a heavy burden with every step they take. Adapt to the drop though and suddenly the boys have broken free, enjoying the dance element to this wonderful remix.

Just like any other track they've reinterpreted, Melbourne duo Indian Summer have maintained their original sound in their rendition of The Aston Shuffle's 'Tear It Down'. Exploring the infinite amount of samples and sounds, this mix harbours a thick sonic backdrop, as it consists of a variety of textures that when gelled together make up an extremely different sound than that of the original track.

Complete with the unexpected, the tune holds no distinct drop for the most part of its presence. Instead of throwing a heavy load into the ground, we're faced with a sly configuration of soft beats playing with an edgy melody. This is until the grand finale though, as the track's final minute is privileged with a heftier soundscape.

Both Safia's and Indian Summer's remix of The Aston Shuffle's 'Tear It Down' are available to purchase via iTunes HERE.
