Live Review: LISTEN: Todd Terje 'Spiral'

1 December 2013 | 3:08 pm | Lauren Payne

Todd Terje has returned with a new 10 minute track called 'Spiral'.

Roughly this time last year Norwegian dance machine TODD TERJE had just released a track called 'Inspector Norse'. Ever since he has been releasing a stack of new tracks that continue to sonically diversify and amaze.

It's been a few months since we last heard a new release from TERJE but today he is back with a brand new 10-minute track which he calls 'Spiral'.

'Spiral' has a variety of instruments doing their part to make the track great and TODD TERJE seems to have created a wonderful balance between everything involved. There are some tropical synths pounding away on 'Spiral' but they are overlaid with tin drums and disco-influenced synths so that you don't think this is a tropical track.

Twinkling disco synths dance over the top of the more solid stabs and it's a nice little section to ease your way into the next section of 'Spiral' which has bursts of disco popping left right and centre. It has so many layers it's hard to pick out what exactly TODD TERJE is going for with the track. There are disco synths, tropical synths, dance synths, house synths all thrown into a 10 minute track that just melds everything together in a perfect ball of digital sound.
