Live Review: LISTEN: Cosmo's Midnight 'Goodnight (ft. Polographia)' & 'Moshi'

12 December 2013 | 7:01 pm | Nick Luke

Sydney-duo COSMO's MIDNIGHT have returned with a brand new double-A sided single entitled 'Goodnight ft. POLOGRAPHIA / Moshi'.

Half men, half dolphin-boys, all twin brothers, COSMO'S MIDNIGHT - the blissful Sydney-based duo are back once again with a brand new Double-A sided single. That means twice the heat! Bonus.

First up we have 'Goodnight'. A tune so crisp, it was probably crafted from laser-light and pure disco-dust (come to your own conclusions about what that is). I mean, you wouldn't expect anything more from the COSMO boys with the tunes, but even more so when they're combining their musical genius-level efforts with POLOGRAPHIA - another Sydney-based duo fuelled by awesomeness.

Both tunes are dense with lighthearted vocal samples, popping 808 drum patterns, and drippingly ecstatic staccato synth stabs. The white-hot lead synth melodies sit somewhere between 80's futuristic motifs and arcade-style F-Zero video game sounds.

Next in line we have the AA-side simply entitled 'Moshi'. The fun little tune manages to pack a huge amount of sound and style into just 2 minutes and 18 seconds, something you've got to hear to believe. Luckily for you, we got tha hookup:

Much like it's sister track, 'Moshi' is infused with neon electricity and good time vibes, with unrelenting lead synths that walk all over the track whilst bouncy and jittery drum rhythms bounce around playfully.

Throughout 'Moshi' you can hear the 'uh-huh' sample from Aaliyah's 'Are You That Somebody', this isn't just a nod to the late-great R&B star, but also a throwback to COSMO'S previous banger 'The Dofflin' which also starred the infamous vocal sample.

And what's even cooler than the news of this brand new COSMO'S MIDNIGHT heat? It's up for free download! Yup, no you have no excuse to get vibin' - get clicking!
