Live Review: LISTEN: The 2 Bears 'Take A Look Around' Remixes

9 December 2013 | 11:58 am | Tom Hutchins

The 2 Bears have come out of hibernation with the release of some dynamic and diverse 'Take A Look Around' Remixes.

Two of the global electronic scene's finest boys/bears are back, well not exactly, but we'll take what we can get at this point. THE 2 BEARS have come out of hibernation with the release of some dynamic and diverse 'Take A Look Around' remixes.

Although the single was released as a part of their debut album, Be Strong, back in 2011; it was recently picked up to be a part of a new HBO program, Looking. Hence, the accompanying remixes have made their way onto the net for your streaming pleasure. We certainly aint' complaining.

First off the bat we have The 2 Bears not only taking on their own creation, but also taking on House Of House, who are taking on their creation too. It's a vs remix, and in our opinion, that's the best kind of remix. Together they take the original and build it around some new percussion and soft organ sounds - resulting in a driving house tune, with plenty of tech elements thrown in to keep you dancing.

The final two tracks are taken on by fellow house upstarts, The Wild Geese. Their 'Totally Swedged Out Remix' is another techy based remix, complete with a heap of psychedelic influence and distortion. Whilst their 'Swedger Dub' is just a straight up dancefloor centric creation. With heaps of funk laden grooves and pulsating rhythms, it'll keep you dancing all afternoon.

The duo (of Joe Goddard of Hot Chip & Raf Rundell) made a record that has touched people from many a different musical background in Be Strong. But their roots have always laid in House music and it’s that genre that essentially defines The 2 Bears. So it just makes perfect sense that for one of their finest house tracks, they got a couple of the genres finest to create some tantalizing re-takes.
