Live Review: LISTEN: Wave Racer 'Stoopid' (De$ignated Remix)

29 November 2013 | 3:07 pm | Lauren Payne

De$ignated have remixed our one and only Wave Racer and turned his track 'Stoopid' into a dance meets Sega game killer.

Over the past month or so media outlets across the globe have been telling Australia how fantastic their producers and DJs really are. We already knew Australia had plenty of producers with talent, but the fact that the rest of the world is starting to take notice, well that's pretty big.

Over in the United Kingdom, Aussie producers have been recognised by Mixmag and a variety of other websites, but one dance duo have taken a shine to our WAVE RACER and in particular his track 'Stoopid' which is so much fun to dance to by the way.

DE$IGNATED have taken WAVE RACER's killer track and tweaked it a little bit to create their very own remix to the party starter. The original is more of a beatsy track that has been taken out of an old Mario or Sonic game.

The digital samples that have been used almost sound like pixels themselves and really are cute as and fun to dance to. If you were at Valley Fiesta in Brisbane this past weekend, you would definitely know where I'm coming from. DE$IGNATED have turned the energy-filled, Sega-inspired track into more of a dance track adding in a variety of smooth synths to ease your way into an awesome time.

Some distorted vocals have been thrown in the mix and the party really gets started with the heavier bass line and just awesome chopped synths that appear during the climax of the track. This remix also shows that not only does Australia have great electronic musicians, the UK does too but of course we've all seen that because a couple of brothers who have been hovering around for a while.

DE$IGNATED's remix of 'Stoopid' will be available for free download on November 30 so if you're planning on getting this track in your ears ASAP, then November 30 is definitely the day to do it.
