Live Review: LISTEN: Miami Horror 'Real Slow' (L D R U Remix)

L D R U's remix of Melbourne psychedelic-dance group Miami Horrors' single "Real Slow" is a synth driven track that has an identity on it's own merits, while still keeping that Aus-tronica vibe.

After hearing the original last month, I was intrigued to hear this remix, and was pleasantly surprised at it's completely different take on it. For instance, the line "I see the look inside your eyes, we can make it if we try, so come on..." and other great lyrics feel like that are shot at you with the feeling they deserve to be.

I'm reminded of both Passion Pit and Julian Casablancas' solo album, putting slow dance synth to upbeat lyrics, and felt like fist pumping when the beat abruptly changed like a house music anthem.

First hearing MIAMI HORROR last year, listening to "Imagination" got me into the bands unique style, and the fact their from Melbourne retains my faith is Australia's indie music scene.

All in all, I appreciate an artist like L D R U who can take a song a make it his own. Killer stuff.
