Live Review: LISTEN: Rattraps 'U4EA' (Palace Remix)

17 October 2013 | 12:29 pm | Nick Luke

LISTEN to the latest remix of Rattraps' 'U4EA' from PALACE.

The newest Perth kid on the beat-block, producer Jeremy Smith aka PALACE is back with his 2nd official remix, this time setting his sights high on the Brissy footwork/bass producer RATTRAPS. And not surprisingly, he delivers the goods.

Originally, 'U4EA' is an unrelenting flurry of footwork rhythms, ethereal juke samples, and trappy percussions - an all round stonking great track, if I don't say so myself. PALACE works his trademark tropical magick on this remix by taking the speed and rush of this footwork jam and tipping it on it's head to make way for a slowed down, head-nodding hip-hop vibe.

The original samples work in harmonious union with the huge synth pads, all strung along together with banging-ly smooth steel drums - a sound that is growing increasingly popular with the new wave of Aussie producers at the moment.

To see PALACE getting such quality work out of the gate at this rate, it's easy to see why he's been on stages around Australia supporting acts such as Flume, Baauer and What So Not, as well as appearing at festivals like Parklife, Wonderland, Southbound, and this years Circo. At the moment, all eyes are on this producer, with hopes of seeing a debut original work soon - here's hoping!
